WHAT IS DIGITAL XRAY (DR) AND HOW IS IT BETTER THAN FILM OR CASSETTE READER (CR)?
Xray is incredibly useful in diagnosing ailments like broken bones, pneumonia among other things. Xray can also be harmful when used incorrectly, especially in children. For this reason, Pediatricians generally use Xray only when necessary, and less often than other (non-pediatric) doctors or physician’s Assistants (PA). But if Xray is used, it should be as quick and high quality as possible to help with the diagnosis, without causing unnecessary harm, and without disturbing the child for too long. Digital Xray is faster to perform, faster to read, and causes less radiation exposure than older technologies like CR or film. Ask for Digital Xray (DR), and ask that the person who is ordering the Xray is a pediatrician or Pediatric NP (PNP) when you take your child to an Urgent Care Center.
